The BETA Program
The BETA Program - Behavior, Emotion, Transition, Academics and Attendance - supports students in all of our member district high schools and students enrolled in our regional middle schools. Through a variety of supportive services including wraparound case management, direct skill building, resource and referral and collaborative partnerships with success teams in each school, we are working to remove barriers and help students achieve a success at school.
BETA is funded through both an Expelled and At Risk Student Services grant (EARSS) awarded from 2018-2022 and again from 2022-2026 as well as a partnership with the Departments of Human Services from Archuleta, La Plata/San Juan, Dolores and Montezuma Counties which allowed the BETA Program to serve all of the Middle Schools in the region.
The BETA program has 6 coordinators, who each support select schools and communities. These coordinators are highly qualified Masters level teachers and mental health providers who partner with the schools to identify eligible students, create a strengths focused Success Plan and implement supports and strategies to help students and families meet their goals.
Our data supports the positive impact BETA is having in our area schools with students and families. Since beginning implementation BETA has consistently increased the number of students served and demonstrated success in achieving the program objectives including successful family engagement, improved attendance for students with identified truancy/chronic absenteeism, improved academic success and a decrease in behavioral incidents on campus.
If you have any questions about the program or would like to contact the BETA coordinator in your home school, please contact Robin Halloran, Department Chair.
