Trauma Informed Care in Schools - El Pomar

In the Fall of 2018, San Juan BOCES was awarded a two year grant through the El Pomar Foundation to work with target sites and schools to embed Trauma Informed Care into the school setting. 

 

Two sites are currently participating in this program - Kemper Elementary School in Cortez and Mancos School District.  These schools have developed Leadership Teams to provide guidance and support to their peers through the process of looking at data, developing clear objectives, researching evidence based practices and focusing on embedding new approached into existing systems.  

 

With guidance from experts at UCLA, Duke University, The Colorado Office of Behavioral Health and participation in a Breakthrough Series Collaborative with  the National Child Traumatic Stress Network, these Leadership teams are facilitating trainings and focus groups to support staff, students and families.
